Melany Rivera-Sandoval chosen for 'An American Daughter'

Melany Rivera-Sandoval, of Springfield, has been selected as a cast member for HCC's Fall 2016 theater production, "An American Daughter."

The Holyoke Community College Theater Department will present the play by Wendy Wasserstein Nov. 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held in the Leslie Phillips Theater in HCC's Fine and Performing Arts Building.

The play is being directed by HCC alumna Denise Boutin, '77.

The play, set in Washington D.C., focuses on Dr. Lyssa Dent Hughes, a health care expert and 40-something daughter of a long-time senator. When the President nominates Lyssa to a cabinet post, an indiscretion from her past is discovered. The media turns it into a scandal that imperils her confirmation and divides her family and friends.

The Fri., Nov. 18, show will be ASL-interpreted.

Ticket are $10 general admission; $8 students and seniors; $5 for members of the HCC community.
