Tomas Roche on theater production crew

2016 Feb 12

Tomas Roche, of Holyoke, has been selected as a member of HCC's Spring 2016 theater production team.

The HCC Theater Department will present "The Whale," by Samuel D. Hunter, April 21-23 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sat., April 23 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held in the Leslie Phillips Theater, in HCC's Fine and Performing Arts building.

The production team performs critical offstage roles in the planning and execution of theater performances, such as set design, wardrobe, props, lighting, sound and stage management.

The play is being directed by HCC theater professor Tim Cochran.

"The Whale" is about a 600-pound recluse, hiding away in his Idaho apartment, slowly eating himself to death. Desperate to reconnect with his long-estranged daughter, he reaches out to her, only to find a viciously sharp-tongued and wildly unhappy teen. Big-hearted and fiercely funny, the play tells the story of a man's last chance at redemption -- and of finding beauty in the most unexpected places.

Winner of several awards, including the 2013 Lucille Lortel award for Best Play.

The Thursday, April 21, show will be ASL-Interpreted.

Tickets are $10 (general admission); $8 for students and seniors; and $5 for members of the HCC community (students, staff and faculty) with a valid I.D.
